Vanderlande are a company that has a clear vision of their future. They are a company that values people, planet, and profit. And as part of this philosophy, they are applying cradle-to-cradle principles in their product lifecycles.

Understanding the Importance of Continuous Innovation
How the VIPE (Vanderlande Integrated PLM Experience) project became the logical next step at Vanderlande

Together with TECHNIA, Vanderlande are dedicated to improving their processes and workflows by harnessing the powerful capability of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The VIPE (Vanderlande Integrated PLM Experience) is an ongoing project representing five years of hard work and commitment from each side of the partnership.

We spoke with Chris van Oijen, Manager of Workflow Information Systems at Vanderlande, to find out how the idea for the VIPE project came to fruition.

"We reached a critical point with the previous system where we realised that we wanted to do more with our PLM. And the decision to update and move to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform was borne, really, out of technical necessity."

Vanderlande handle a phenomenal amount of data to ensure that their automated logistics solutions are highly accurate and functional. Both technical teams have had a monumental task to overcome in migrating that data to the new platform while maintaining routine system activity.

Data handling in these environments is critical to success. Now that the VIPE platform contains all development documents and data, as well as all builds and installations, Vanderlande have a 360 degree view of their business.

Building Customer Relationships that Define Projects
How trust through adversity builds better partnerships

It's only fair to recognise that this journey has not been without its trials. In fact, most implementations of this magnitude give rise to a number of unforeseen complications. But, projects like these are a rigorous test of collaborative effort.

By working together in an iterative manner, the partnership has developed a custom solution for a very specific situation.

" Like any large project it hasn't been easy, and we've had to overcome some serious obstacles. However, due to the commitment of both parties we've managed to succeed with the partnership has developing."

Knowing Which Steps Come Next
Why networking really works

TECHNIA have engaged in a fulfilling, corporate cultural exchange during this project with Vanderlande. Through dedication to a common goal, by sharing common values, and by travelling together – to learn from our Addnode partners, in India – TECHNIA and Vanderlande are enjoying a fruitful journey together.

Chris' past networking experiences at events, such as the PLM Innovation Forum, have informed his personal PLM journey. Speaking of the 2017 forum, Chris recalled a presentation from multinational conglomerate, Honeywell, and the effect it continues to have on his engagement with TECHNIA, and with PLM.

"Previous PLM Innovation Forums have really been a big help for us to understand some things about our own implementation journey. And so, when I was asked to speak at PLMIF 2019, I was glad to be able to share some of my experiences."

Final Thoughts
Our journey together doesn't end here

Vanderlande are a company that has a clear vision of their future. They are a company that values people, planet, and profit. And as part of this philosophy, they are applying cradle-to-cradle principles in their product lifecycles. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is the ideal solution to enable this kind of sustainable development.

More and more businesses are coming to realise that environmentally conscious innovation is vital on the path to future manufacturing. Product Lifecycle Management systems are the best way for companies to evaluate their current processes and innovate better, more sustainable ways to design, produce and recycle.

We look forward to realising the full potential of the Vanderlande Integrated PLM Experience by focusing on the Integration element of the platform.

Vanderlande envisage a system which pools more intrinsic data together. And which informs more disciplines within their PLM.
